Christmastime is a ritual that reminds us that “The Light of Life” is about to appear on earth as a baby. The beautiful storytelling of the Nativity scene—a miniature tableau depicting the birth of Jesus—has been shared for roughly 1,660 years. It's incredible how long this story has endured, and we never seem to tire of experiencing it.
Perhaps it's because this season is about hope, symbolically linking the occasion to new beginnings and fresh starts. We love the shared language of symbols, actions, and the sense of bonding it brings. We use strings of electric bulbs to illuminate trees, houses, streets, and windows—this lovely practice evokes the idea of light triumphing over darkness during the winter months.
We express generosity through gifts and turn reflection into a theme of conversation—creating a sense of belonging and trust that ordinary dialogue rarely produces. Christmas is a marker of connection and unity, something we dearly need today.
